Well I guess this is it!

So Graduation is in 1 week...insane! It feels so weird to be in this position right now! Here is how the end of the year wrapped up.

The most important thing was the National Student Advertising Competition in Albuquerque. My Ad Campaigns class had finished up our plans book and made our entire campaign. It was really awesome and so we and to take it to Albuquerque and present it in front of the judges. Here is the awesome presentation team.

We did really well and the judges were impressed. In fact we placed 4th which is totally awesome! It was a really good time! We had tons of fun exploring the city, and even found ourselves some scrumptious thai food. Overall, I am really pleased how it all turned out and it was such a good experience.

All of my other projects have been completed and now its 2 exams and then Graduation! This is so crazy! I just want to say that I am so happy I came to UNC, especially the Monfort College of Business. These past 4 years have been so awesome! I have met so many awesome people, such amazing professors, and I really learned a lot! Starting this new chapter in my life is going to be scary but I am so excited! I guess this will be my last blog for UNC :( I want to say congrats to all my friends and classmates! It has been an incredible 4 years!

GO BEARS!!

SPRING BREAK!! Last EVER!

This is totally INSANE! All I can think about this week is how this may be the last ever Spring Break I will have where I can just relax! Well so far I am too relaxed but still, its really weird to think that soon I will be graduating and not be a student anymore. SCARY STUFF! Anyway I had planned on staying here in Greeley for Spring Break because of my Ad Campaigns class. Usually students stay and work on the big competition we have in April but apparently at the last minute they decided to have a Spring Break which left me without plans -.- I am a bit upset about this...

SO I decided to go get my motorcycle endorsement on my license! I took the class with Abate of Colorado over at Aims Community College and then at Front Range Community College in Fort Collins. The teachers from Abate were so good! It was a really good time and I had tons of fun. Definitely passed my test and now I get to go to the DMV and get my newly enhanced license! I am so excited! Here is a picture of me on my boyfriends new bike (he took the class with me, but I finished first so I get my license before him ;P).

Well school starts again soon and everything is about to go crazy! I think all will be good though :D I will keep you updated on our Luau shinanigans! Hope you all had a good break!

World Expo...what's next-o...

So things have been a bit crazy lately! We have only one month basically to finish up all of the preparations for Luau which is just insane! So far the girls are looking really good but we still have a couple songs to learn but we are going good! You will have to come see us do our thing on April 10th in the UC for the 19th Annual Luau! I will definitely keep you all updated!

This week we did a little performance for the World Expo in the Rec. We had a really great time, here are some pictures!

The girls are doing so good! This picture is pretty funny because my eyes are closed haha!!

Tini and I even did a little impromptu Tahitian! It was a good time :D

So now to my senior-dom. Ugh it is so stressful growing up! I still have to take my resume to Career Services to see what they think. So far I am still thinking that I will just look for a job and maybe take the GMAT and see about grad school...But I really need a job haha can't just go to grad school. SOOOOO confusing -.- should probably talk to some profs. They have helped all my other friends...Well I will let you all know what happens!

Chindogus...

Hey guys! Sorry its been a while. last week we had the Lunar New Year in the UC. I had my presentation but from what I heard the girls did AWESOME!

SO anyway on to this week...

A chindogu is an "unuseless" product. Something that has a use/purpose BUT you wouldn't be caught dead wearing/using these products...SO we made some for my Marketing Problems class. A few of my classmates and I presented our chidogus in our class Tuesday night. Here are some of them...

So that is Josh with his "ForkSticks" to improve your eating abilities when using chopsticks. I am next to him with my "Driving Bib" so that when you multi-task and drive (I can't do this but there are people who do -.-)you won't make a mess of the clothes you are wearing. Sydney made the "Purse Diaper" so that when you put your purse on the ground it doesn't get dirty. I loved that one :D Purses are like the dirtiest things women own! And Amanda made a hat that has glasses attached so that your glasses don't get in the way of your hat. :D All in all it was a pretty fun project and all the presentations were pretty funny.

Had a photoshoot Monday for the Party With a Plan campaign on campus :D that was pretty fun...will keep you updated hehe

Is it straight Hula or Hula Hooping?

Well this week a lot has happened! First of all, some of my Hula girls performed at Greeley West High School for their Ethnic Fest. We had a good time, here is a picture of us dancing.

(Tini, Caity, Sarah, and Me!)

Next week we have a performance for the Lunar New Year Celebration in the UC. Sadly I can't perform because I have to give a presentation simultaneously in my Business to Business Marketing class :( BUT it is going to be a great time, there is going to be good food and of course a bunch of performances. The hula club is really going to try hard to promote our Luau. I am really proud of my girls though, we have tons of new girls who have never danced before and they are doing well and eager to perform. I appreciate their patience with me haha I have been kinda grouchy about their arms and hands...but they are getting so much better with every practice! If you get the chance, come see them perform at the Lunar New Year celebration in the UC Monday, February 15th at 5pm! Tickets are on sale now! GO!!!

So aside from practicing all of our shinanigans for Hula, I feel like this week I had tons of stuff due in class, but now that the week is almost over I feel a bit accomplished. Next week Tuesday I have the ETS which is the exit exam for the business majors. I am a bit nervous about that! But I am sure it will go well...

Lastly, on Wednesday I found out that I am going to be the new face of the Party with a Plan Campaign. I am pretty stoked about it because I do firmly believe in taking care of yourself and being responsible when it comes to doing college type...err...experiences? Haha...anyway I think it is going to be really cool :D Now I just have to decide...do I want to incorporate Hula into the picture...or my car...UGH DECISIONS!!

<3 Shyla

ps...I got an email that asked this question this week hehehe now I wish I could hula hoop...no joke...I am a Hula Dancer who can't Hula Hoop to save my life!

From Birthdays to Resumes to Motorcross...

So this past week was insane. On Wednesday it was my Bf's 22 b-day, our boss at got him a cake :D.

We went to an Eagle's game at the Budweiser event center (they put a new John Cooper Works Mini on the ice during a break hehe it was cool) and then we went to Buffalo Wild Wings to meet up with some friends. The whole place was empty it was insane but we had a good time so all was good.

This week we also had our fair share of crazy morning drives. We have been having this annoying fog that sticks around and leaves ice all over your windshield and then after you scrape it all off you still can't see where you are going because the fog is so thick. What amazes me is that people still drive like crazy people! Here is one of those mornings, you can't see anything at all!!

The entire week I spent time trying to figure out my resume. It is a total pain I tell you. I really have to speak with an advisor because my resume needs a bit of fine tuning. I also found out that I have 2 tests in the next week. Which is wonderful, I can't believe this semester is already blowing by. Also, I decided that I wanted to fly my Mom out for the Luau, April 10th. So she will be up for the weekend and then come back a month later for Graduation with my Dad YAY!

On Saturday we had planned to go to the Mammoth Lacrosse game in Denver with one of my bf's friends. Instead here is what happened. His friend Sterling is a pro motorcross racer dude. SO he just got sponsered by Yamaha and was given a new bike. So in order to get the new bike he had to race Saturday down in Denver. SO he called us up and we were like WOOO lets go! and so we went. Here is a little video just for you! This is Sterling Engelhard, a fellow MCB student racing his new Yamaha in Denver.

Tonight begins the final season of lost...its just too bad I have class :(

busy busy busy!

So this is a little late but I need to fill you guys in on whats all been happening. Senior year has been crazy so far and none of the projects have even begun yet! Basically what has really been driving me nuts is my schedule. I have 2 night classes, Monday and Tuesday night and they feel so long. Because of the Tuesday night class I had to drop my ballet class with the older kids and now I take it on Wednesday with the under 10 crowd. Its a little awkward. I also have Hula and I have to come up with a bunch of songs to choreograph, teach, and then dance for Luau in April. On top of all that plus school I have to start my career search. I had to re-do my resume which was fun but now it needs to be refined so I can send it out and get this internship my friend is doing. It has to deal with social media/marketing, which is really interesting. If I get that then I have to quite ballet which will be okay but I will be a little sad :(.

On Friday I got an interesting call. Apparently another area of campus wants to see if I fit the image of their new campaign. I have a phone interview on Wednesday so I will let you know what happens! Sorry no pictures this time. I will try find something cool to share later this week :D

And so it begins...

Hi Guys! School started this week...YAY! Sunday night, well Monday morning really, I had the hardest time getting to sleep because all I could think about was the fact that this was going to be my FINAL semester of school. It was SO weird! Anyway, once I got to school something pretty funny happened, I am pretty stoked about it actually.

My feet (yes my actual feet, covered in shoes) appeared on a POSTER! HAHAHAH a POSTER! for some this UNC new branding event on Thursday. Here is a picture...they are in the top left corner :D

Well what happeend was last semester I went to a model call for UNC and I had my funky shoes on (not the ones pictured) but these other ones much funkier ones. The photographers thought they were pretty radtacular...I can't blame them really...and so they took a pic with me and my shoes and then I got picked to take some more pictures. It was a really cool experience. They asked me to bring a bunch of my shoes and so there are now a bunch of pics of my feet teehee. They also somehow got a picture of me jumping, I was amazed that this photographer could just click and boom it was perfect. How long does it take before you perfect timing like that? I think I am going to experiment with this later...yup...I am.

Besides all that classes are pretty cool. I got into this awesome Ad Campaigns class where we are going to do this HUGE contest. My classmates are also super excited about that. I have another class with Professor McCorkle, who is awesome I might add...take is e-marketing class if you get the chance...anyway it got me thinking. A popular new trend in marketing is the whole Flash mob idea, here is my favorite.

Since UNC is doing this new branding effort...what if we did a flash mob...either around campus or like McCorkle suggested to us last semester, at Graduation. How SICK would that be?! I wonder who I should send this idea to. We could show the different cultures on campus, the dance alliance could teach an easy dance, the steppers could do a quick thing, the Hawaiians could hula or do a tahitian number, etc. It would be awesome! All I am saying is BOOM youtube=free publicity. McCorkle's a genious I tell you.

Speaking of Hula, practice starts this Thursday the 14th at 8pm in the lower fitness room at the rec. Come join us if you like :)

Its comin and its comin fast!!

Wellllll I was gonna write sooner but got so distracted by everything else going on haha so here goes...

About the Taro...well we never really got around to it, what we did learn is that the root is covered in tiny little hairs that get stuck in your skin when you clean it and makes your hands super itchy! After that I lost interest :D sorry...I would share a picture but it pretty much looks like a giant turd haha no joke leave me a comment and maybe I will post a picture later!

So Christmas came and went, we went to our usual Christmas Eve Party at my best friend's house (our parents are really good friends). Here is a pic of my Mom and me from the party.

and we made Crab Cheese Wontons! :D YUMMY!

For New Years I went to stay with my boyfriend in Phoenix and we played with remote control helicopters :D it was fun stuff

But now its back to school time. We are at the last weekend before the semester starts and I really don't think I'm ready...of course that could be the snow talkin...I did finish up my Oceanography class. I really wish that I knew how these online classes were before my last interim session in college. They are so awesome! Take an online class if you need any extra credits...they are way easy...well it might also be that you only have one class but still...anyways now its book buying time and I HATE it...so far I am up to $300 and that's 2 books UGHH! Buy used and buy online guys! Talk to you soon!
